MARCUS Tudgay is bidding to make up for lost time as a new season approaches.
The Owls striker is back in training and targeting a return to the team after missing the last seven weeks of last season with a knee injury.
His absence was one of many injury blows suffered by the club last season and it was particularly ill-timed.
It came when he was top scorer with eight goals and Wednesday were gearing up for the final stages of their Championship survival fight.
Tudgay's injury was a major factor in Brian Laws signing Bartosz Slusarski on loan from West Brom.
"But I'm fine now," said Tudgay. "I've worked every day during the summer.
"Good things and bad things happen in this game; the injury was one of the bad ones. You just have to get over it and bounce back.
"I've worked hard to get back to fitness and now I'm aiming to push on.
"I want to make up for the time I missed, and get going again.
"I also hope that we have a better season than the last one."
Tudgay will be in a striker pool that also includes Deon Burton - who ended as top scorer with nine goals - Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers and Leon Clarke.
The Owls scored only 54 league goals in an injury-hit 2007-08 campaign and will be looking for an improvement in this aspect of their play.
Meanwhile, some places remains on courses being run by the Owls community staff for youngsters during the school holidays, at Middlewood and Tideswell.
There are six separate events at the training ground during July and August, and three at Tideswell leisure complex, Derbyshire, over a similar period. They are open to boys and girls between the ages of five and 14, and last from 10am to 4pm.
