Tributes to much-loved speedway couple

TRIBUTES from around the world have been pouring in to The Star's website following the death of a South Yorkshire couple renowned for their links with speedway.
Darren Boocock, aged 40 and his wife Sharon, 39, died when their motorbike collided head on with a lorry last Friday.

The pair, who leave a 12-year-old son Jack, were key members of the backroom staff at Owlerton Stadium - home of the Sheffield Ti
gers speedway team - and were known all over the world for their involvement.

Darren's uncle Eric Boocock is the Tigers' team manager and his father Nigel was a former international rider who competed in six world championships during the 1960s and early 70s.

One message, sent from Darren's family in Brisbane in Australia, says: "We miss you so much it's unbearable.

Another tribute from Sarah Mitchell, from South Yorkshire, said she had been "devastated" by the tragedy.

- Police are keen to trace three men in a Ford Transit flatbed who may have witnessed the smash on the A631 Tickhill Road, Maltby, at 11am last Friday.
