Shiny outlook for cutlery business

IT'S good to see that Sheffield cutlery is not dead (Duo's cutting edge takeover, Sep 22).
I thought the days of apprenticeships in the trade were long gone, as I was the last apprentice fork grinder/polisher taken on in the late 70's at my place of work.

This was as the bad 80s came along with job losses and the closing of firms (I did
work in the trade till the 90s).

I also read about the Sheffield Shop doing well selling made-in-Sheffield goods.

This says a lot about the name we are proud of, along with its history in steel and cutlery.

So I hope both businesses go from strength to strength.
