HAVING seen the plans for the new retail area and bus interchange in the Charter Square, Cambridge Street, Barkers Pool area I am sure it will be an impressive state of the art development. If and when it is completed.
Are there any such plans for the Haymarket, Snig Hill, Fitzalan Square areas?

This area has been neglected over the years. The British Home Stores has been closed for years, shops on Exchange Street and The Galleries allowed to deteriorate.

And
when the markets are re-located to the Moorfoot area, is that going to be another derelict eyesore?

The Old Court House building could be made into small retail shops and a restaurant.

And all this is within easy access to the Pond Street and Arundel Gate Bus Interchanges, the railway station and the tram.

THE latest proposals for the New Retail Quarter, now displayed at the Town Hall and online, show a striking new building filling the space between Pinstone, Cambridge and Cross Burgess Streets, unlike anything seen in Sheffield before. We look set to get a new landmark: will readers love it or hate it? Does it justify the demolitions?
