I wish to correct an inaccurate statement about Sheffield Homes on Monday's front page where you report problems related to some of the work being carried out to the environmental aspects of the neighbourhoods of our housing estates.
This work is not part of our Decent Homes Programme but is being funded separately by Sheffield City Council under the Government's Housing Market Renewal Programme.
The implication of your story is that the Decent Homes Programme is being under-f
unded. This is simply not true and your story will have unnecessarily alarmed those of your readers who are also our tenants.
I am glad to confirm that the Decent Homes Programme is on budget, on time and that all homes are being completed to standard with almost 90 per cent of our tenants being completely satisfied with the work.
We expect The Star to be critical when we get it wrong, but this time you presented an incorrect statement which has alarmed tenants.
Prof Tony Crook, Chair, Sheffield Homes Ltd
