I SEE Clive Betts (Sep 23) wants the present council to build council homes. That's rich coming from Labour.
For the last four years they have been telling us in 5M Homes on the Arbourthorne Estate, that our homes are to come down.

They can't, or won't, tell us why they want to demolish our homes.

Instead of demolishing and selling the land to private
developers, they should do what they are telling the council to do, and build new houses and leave our 5m Homes alone.

George Day, Berners Road, Arbourthorne

Rodgers,

SHEFFIELD 02/10/2008 14:18:22
THIS COUNCIL LOVES TO DEMOLISH AND SELL LAND. OR THEY SELL THE HOMES VERY CHEAP TO ASSOCIATION SO THEY CAN PUT UP THE RENTS. BUT, THEY WILL NOT LET THE TENANT HAVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY. THE TENANT MUST APPLY UNDER RIGHT TO BUY AND PAY MUCH MORE THAN THE ASSOCIATIONS. IF A TENANT HAS BEEN PAYING RENT FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS AND THE HOME IS PRE 1945. THE COUNCIL SHOULD SELL THE HOUSE TO THEM FOR A NOMINAL SUM. THEY WILL FIND THEY SAVE A LOT OF MONEY DOING THIS
